Learn how to manage your students' accounts when they are no longer under your supervision.

Updated today

We understand that you may not always work with a student indefinitely. That’s why you have several options to remove or adjust a Kid’s account under your Teacher/Coach account. Here’s how to manage different situations:

Kids you still work with but no longer purchase Gold Memberships for

You can keep the child on your Kids list and maintain your guardian status, but they will no longer have Gold access.

  1. Click 'Manage' in the top menu of your adult account and select 'Kids.'

  2. Find the child’s username and click the 'X' icon on the Gold badge next to their name. This will remove Gold access while keeping them in your list.

Kids you no longer work with but who may still log in to their ChessKid accounts

Any child can continue playing with a Free account! If a student has graduated or moved to another school but still wants to use their ChessKid account, you can remove them from your Kids list while keeping their account active.

  1. From your adult account, click 'Manage' in the top menu and select 'Kids' from the options.

  2. Click the three stacked lines next to the child’s account and select 'Edit Kid.'

  3. Click 'Remove Guardianship,' then confirm by selecting 'OK' in the pop-up message.

    • If a parent wants to purchase a Gold Membership for their child, you can transfer primary guardianship to them instead. To do this, select 'Edit Guardianship' and follow the prompts.

Kids who no longer use their ChessKid account at all

If a child no longer uses their ChessKid account, you have the option to disable it permanently.

  1. From your adult account, click 'Manage' in the top menu and select 'Kids' from the options.

This will completely disable the account—it will no longer appear in your Kids list, and the student will no longer be able to access it.
