How to assign a Gold Membership
Once you purchase a Gold Membership from your ChessKid Adult Account, you can assign it to any of the kids for whom you are the primary guardian. Enabling or disabling a Gold Membership for a Kid account is as simple as clicking a button.
Here's how to do it:
In your Adult Account, click 'Manage' in the top menu and choose 'Kids.'
Next to your child’s username you’ll see a medal icon:
Having trouble adding Gold?
There are a few common reasons why you might not be able to add a Gold Membership to one of your linked Kid Accounts:
The Gold Membership was purchased from the Kid Account.
If the account shows a solid gold medal without an 'X' or '+' next to it, as shown in the image below, it means the Gold Membership was purchased directly from the Kid account. Gold purchased this way cannot be changed, reassigned, or altered by an Adult Account.
If you want this account to be managed under your Adult Account, you will need to log into the Kid Account, cancel that membership, and then assign the Gold Membership you purchased through your Adult account by following the steps at the beginning of this article.
You are not the primary guardian of the Kid Account.
If there is no 'X' or '+' next to the kid’s medal, it means you are listed as a secondary guardian. Only the primary guardian can assign or remove Gold Memberships for their kids.
If you need to become the primary guardian, have the current primary guardian follow the steps in this article about switching primary guardianship to you.
You do not have enough Gold Memberships available.
The 'X' or '+' options next to the Kid’s medal will only appear if you have unassigned Gold Memberships available. For example, if you purchased Gold for two kids and have already assigned both memberships, the 'X' and '+' buttons will no longer appear. If you want to reassign Gold from one Kid to another, follow the steps at the beginning of this article to remove it and assign it again.
