Tournament points on ChessKid

Tournament points are earned by participating in ChessKid tournaments. A player’s point total is based on four factors:

  • P: a multiplier based on your final placement

  • R: the projected number of rounds

  • G: the maximum group size

  • S: the average rating of all players in the tournament

Formula

Tournament Points = 10 × ( P × (1.5^R) × G × (S / 1000) )

How to calculate "P"

Place finish

"P" Value

4+

.1 * ((((T / 2) - 2) - (p - 3)) / ((T / 2) - 2))

Where T = total players and p = place finish.

To earn points, p must be less than or equal to T/2.

How to calculate R

R is calculated using the equation: (G / A)^X = T, solve for X.

Where A = the number of players who advance per group.
