How to request a username on ChessKid

If you have a Guardian and a Gold account, your Parent, Teacher, or Coach can request a username change for you from their Adult account. Here’s how they can do it:

  1. Click 'Manage' from the menu at the top of their Adult account and select 'My Kids' from the options.

  2. Click the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) next to your account and select 'Edit Kid.'

Alternatively, you can request a custom username by reaching out to our Support team.

Guidelines for custom usernames on ChessKid

  • Must be 3 to 20 alphanumeric characters.

  • No spaces or symbols, except '-' or '_' (these cannot be at the beginning or end).

  • Must be child-friendly (no adult or violent themes).

All custom usernames require approval from ChessKid staff, which may take a few days. Until then, you must log in using your system-generated username and password. If your request is not approved, you’ll receive a notification via email or your ChessKid inbox.

Your Kid account must have a Gold Membership to request a custom username.
