I purchased a Gold Membership for my kid. Why do we not have Gold access?

Sometimes the gold accidentally attaches to a different username. Here's how to double check what username is connected to your purchase:

1 - Please go to your ChessKid App and see if you can purchase another membership. Just go through the motions of buying a membership without actually purchasing one. When you do this, it should give you a pop-up with the ChessKid username that is linked to your purchase.

2 - If the first option doesn’t generate a username pop-up, then please log out and create a new username on the app by clicking on the ‘Sign Up’ button (next to the login area). Then try purchasing again until you see the pop-up error showing the username.

After following the steps above, you should get a pop-up like this one. The username listed in the pop-up is the username associated with your gold account purchase.

If the purchase was made through an Adult account, here's how to make sure that the Gold Membership is ASSIGNED for the kid you intend to be using it. (You will first need to be connected to them as a Guardian to have these capabilities. For more information on Guardianship, click HERE).

  • From your ChessKid Parent home page, click on "Manage" followed by "Kids":

  • Check that the Gold Membership badge next to the kid's username is gold, not grey.

  • You can enable or disable Gold Membership access anytime with a single click on either the "+" (plus) or the "x" next to your Kid's username:

  • If the Kid account has a gray medal with no "x" or "+" that means your Adult account is listed as the Secondary Guardian (instead of the Primary) on their account, which removes your ability to edit the membership in any way.

  • You will need to become the Primary Guardian on the account. You can either contact the Primary Guardian, ask them to remove their guardianship from the Kid account or you can EMAIL US and ask us to contact the Primary Guardian and request the change on your behalf.

If your purchase was made through Google Play it may not have synced to your ChessKid account correctly. Please EMAIL US the GPA # associated with your purchase.
