Play with Friends on ChessKid
You can play Fast or Slow Chess with your friends on ChessKid! First, both of you need to send and accept each other's friend requests to appear on each other's Friends list.
How to add friends
From your kid account, click on 'Connect' from the home page.
Use the 'Search Friends' area to find your friend by typing their username. Click the three horizontal lines next to their name and select 'Add to Friends' to send a Friend Request.
After sending the request, you'll see an alert on your screen reminding you that your friend must also send a request for you to be connected.
How to play a Fast Chess game with a friend
Once you and your friend have sent and accepted each other's Friend Requests, you'll appear in each other's Friends list. To start a game, both of you must be logged in, online, and on the Fast Chess page at the same time.
When you're both online in Fast Chess, follow these steps to start a game:
Click 'Play' and select 'Play vs. Kid' from the options.
Click on the 'Friends' icon (the one that looks like a person) in the panel on the right. If your friend is online and you’ve both accepted each other’s friend requests, they will appear here.
Click the 'Play' icon next to their name to start a game.
How to play Slow Chess with a friend
A Slow Chess game can last several days. To play with a friend, follow these steps:
From your Kid account, click 'Play' on the left-hand menu and select 'Slow Chess.'
On the Slow Chess page, choose between an unrated or rated game:
For an unrated game, use the drop-down menu to select Standard Chess or Chess960.
For a rated game, simply select your friend from the list.
Click 'Play' at the bottom of the page to start the game!
How do I play against an adult?
If you're a kid and want to play against an adult, that adult must be listed as a Guardian on your ChessKid account. Once they are added as a Guardian, you'll be able to connect and play with them.
